Prosiect EPYNt

Prosiect Epynt

In the winter of 1939, Epynt and Bwlch-y-groes inhabitants received news from the War Office of their forced eviction from their homes and communities for the land to be used as military training ground. 219 people of 54 farms were displaced and 83 years later the MOD still uses this land. Prosiect Epynt is a co-devised contemporary response to the impact of the Epynt clearance of 1940, exploring themes of Welsh language, displacement and it’s intergenerational impact.

I was lucky enough to create costumes for this project in collaboration with the pupils of Ysgol Calon Cymru and the local community.
